History
I will always remember the first time I saw my Uncle's collection of black and white images as a young teen. The impact was something that would unknowingly create the impetus for my passion in the art that is photography. Many of the photos were of me as a child. I remember they gave me a feeling of comfort from a time I imagined fondly. They took me time travelling, they made me smile. The lighting echoed the warmth of the sun upon my innocent face, and the background opened up passages of the mind long closed. I realized the power of the photograph at a early age and began the odyssey of discovery of life through pictures.
Photographs gave a reason and a purpose to me
that paralleled my inner need to understand life's least understood
facets. Travelling to remote corners of the world continues
to be a need for me to stimulate new understanding. More recently
I have taken an interest in music and counterculture, and
have turned it into a journalistic photo journey into the
ever-expanding festival scene. Above all of this has been
the gift of being able to document the life of my five-year-old
son and his best friend and cousin Dean. Through observation
from the hours we spend together, I have been shown the beauty
of fatherhood. It is out of these life experiences that Lucid
Musing has grown.
I believe that the human image can only be captured in film if the psychology of the subject is understood. With this belief, based on my life's appetite for music and travel, and a keen eye for unique hidden beauty, my photos emerge. To appreciate and capture pure essence is my goal in life and behind the camera. To settle for anything less would be a disservice to the gift of living.
